Washcloth Crafts!
Wow!  I just found a 12 pack of Fiskars Safety Scissors for Kids online at Amazon.  I purchased a pair in a discount department store and have been using them myself to test them out.  They cut through the terrycloth easily!   I was a bit concerned about children using sharp scissors to cut out facial features, ribbon or terrycloth (some critters require that you trim the cloth a bit), but these do the trick nicely.  Now, the scissors are still are sharp, so supervision will still be required, but they do not have a sharp pointed tip and the handle is easy to grip.

If you have a large party or group of children and you want to include the scissors in the sewing kit (if you are making the kit as a party favor), you may consider checking out the link above rather buying the scissors individually. Amazon sometimes sells the washcloths in bulk, too, which may be of help if you are looking for a specific color washcloth.  Remember, though, kids love to choose their own color for their critter, so if you don't have red to make the Heart Box as a party activity, give them the choice of pink, yellow, blue and green and that should satisfy them, especially if it isn't Valentine's Day, which it won't be for a while. By the way, you can also use the Heart Box as a Christmas ornament and white would work just as well. Dust the ornament with fine, white glitter to give it a little sparkle.

Happy Crafting!
