If a holiday party is traditional at your home, then make it special this year by making TerryGami party favors and ornaments with the kids this summer.  This will leave you time to concentrate on other details when the holiday arrives, and it will give the kids something to do on rainy days.  It never hurts to have a surprise project in the closet, ready to go when the sky clouds up.

When the TerryGami projects are finished, make packing the ornaments away special.  Have the children label and draw on the box.  For example, if they made Halloween decorations, have them draw bats and pumpkins on it with markers.  Have them write their names on white tissue paper, making a special layer for each child’s ornaments or party favor boxes. When it is time to decorate for the party, make opening the box a special event, too, by having them gather around to see what they have made.

I am all for moms enjoying Christmas, too.  That’s why I always love to hear people say they have Christmas ready by November.  This was something I always wanted to accomplish, but never quite achieved.  At least I did make it to the point that I wasn’t up all Christmas Eve, wrapping presents.  Can you imagine enjoying Thanksgiving dinner, knowing that Christmas is all wrapped up, and that you may actually be able to enjoy the holidays this year?

So, why not start planning the parties and get-togethers now?  Don’t wait for the last minute hustle and bustle.   Also, it doesn’t hurt to remind the kids that while, yes, fall means back-to-school; it also means the holidays are right around the corner!

Happy Crafting!
~Terry
