Welcome to washcloth crafts!
I  imagined what fun kids would have at a pirate birthday party or Halloween party, running around with parrots on their shoulders. This is what inspired the washcloth parrots.  The birthday boy or girl would get the captain's parrot and the other children would get the mate's parrot as a party favor.
Washcloth parrots might be a fun way to jazz up a lesson plan about the pirates of the Caribbean, too!  Factoids about parrots are already in the book. Or the parrots might just be fun to have in the kids' dress up box.
As a party activity, the parrots may be a bit labor intensive, so there will be a bit preparation work to do in advance to make it all run smoothly.  For example, make the feet and beaks ahead of time, and cut out the eye patch, bandanas, and ribbons.  Yarn or Craft Trim might be the cheaper way to go instead of using ribbon. The beaks and feet can be made of felt, also.

As in any craft for kids, a little prep work makes all the difference when planning a group activity!
Remember, too.  Parrots come in all colors!

 Arrgh! :)

Happy Crafting!
